It was awarded earlier today to Justin Upton of the Tucson for his great year at the plate. He put up some impressive numbers, including a .350 batting average and 18 balls hit over the fences. The voters were also undoubtedly impressed with his 70 RBI and 95 runs scored. In all, a fine year richly deserving of being recognized. |  | Friday, October 3rd, 2008: 20 Victories and 2.49 ERA Garner PCL Outstanding Pitcher Award for Philip Barzilla of Round Rock It was a monstrous year for Philip Barzilla of the Round Rock Express. He put up some mighty scary numbers and was rewarded with the Pacific Coast League Outstanding Pitcher Award. The league's premier pitcher recorded 20 wins and just 5 losses in 29 mound appearances and a total of 231.1 innings pitched. He yielded only 178 hits, mowed down 185 on strikes, gave up just 63 walks and recorded a solid ERA of 2.49 in a stellar season on the mound. Opposing batters hit only .216 against the ace of the Round Rock mound corps. | | | | |
